JMAP's goal is to support students and teachers and enhance programs and the classroom experience.  We hold fundraisers such as our electronics recycling, and Muirath on (walk-a-thon) to raise money for our school.  Here are some examples of programs we support.

On April 24, 2010 over 100 John Muir students joined their families, teachers and staff in our 1st Annual Muirathon and Silent Auction.  Everyone had a great time walking and shopping and we raised over $10,000 for our school!

Six teachers received Teacher Grant financial awards in 2009-10 for various classroom projects including field trips to museums, listening station equipment, and a classroom speaker/activity about life in the pioneer days.
JMAP works with Home Start, a non-profit organization that helps at-risk children and families.  We collect gently used items throughout the year, and also lead a Holiday Toy Drive in December. Several Muir families helped distribute toys.

JMAKE is an art program where parent volunteers  provide extra art opportunities to K-4 students at John Muir School.  Tasia Paulson, JMAKE coordinator and a parent at John Muir school has a B.A. in Visual Arts from UCSD. She trains parent volunteers on various art forms to present to students each month.  JMAKE projects have been displayed at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park and at the Woodbury University School of Architecture.  Some of the JMAKE art projects are showcased below:
